Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle’s Medium (DMEM) is a modification of Basal Medium Eagle (BME), containing four times the concentration of amino acids and vitamins. It serves as one of the most ubiquitous mediums in cell culture, especially for adherent cell phenotypes. Commercially available DMEM comes in a variety of different glucose concentrations. The medium is commonly modified with or without the presence of L-Glutamine, Phenol Red, and HEPES.
