Named after Dr. Thomas McCoy, McCoy’s 5A medium is a modification of Basal Medium 5A, and has general purpose use for primary cells and established cell lines. McCoy’s 5A has been used to support the growth of primary cultures derived from bone marrow, skin, spleen, kidney, lung, and others. Commercially available McCoy’s 5A comes in a variety of different glucose concentrations. The medium is commonly modified with or without the presence of L-Glutamine, Phenol Red, and more.
